The Hug (Part II)

The tour ended when we entered the farm-house from the kitchen. He grabbed us a couple of Castles and then showed us to the front porch. It was a small one but it had room for the three of us. I was too nervous to share the long chair with him so I quickly sank into the armchair. He hid a wicked grin.

He and my friend chatted for a while. I pulled out my journal and started to write but decided to focus on the beauty before me. I half-listened as I took swigs of my beer. They discovered that not only did they share the same heritage, they shared some common ancestry on her Haitian side. Their families had both emigrated to New York at around the same times in the seventies.
